My Virtual Vintage Closet

I decided to start a segment on my blog titled “My Virtual Vintage Closet”.

Since I often find myself spying Ebay and Etsy for clothing and accessories, I thought it would be nice to share some of my finds.
After many years I’ve come to trust several sellers, that without a doubt always have something I’m pining for.
Looking through their shops adds an element of fantasy to my experience, since you never know what you will stumble upon.  And even though certain vintage pieces are far too costume-y for  me to personally rock, I revel in the craftsmanship and inspiration it often provides for an updated alternative.
It is also important to note that the way vintage pieces are styled can transform something that may on its own look a tad strange and outdated into something unique and stunning.
So, while perusing some of my favorite Ebay shops the other day, I tripped over a certain dress.
Her beauty took me by surprise, but upon further inspection, I noticed that she also looked quite similar to what Donna Karan did this Spring season.

Take a look for yourselves:

This full skirt and Bandeau look was one of my personal favorites from her collection, which was very ethnic/tribal.  I love the idea of bold, almost primitive and over-sized prints on feminine silhouettes as it provides an unexpected quality to the look.

And below, you will find the Vintage version of this look. (which is from one of my favorite Ebay Shops) You can see where the inspiration may have come from…. can’t you?

Voila!  and that’s why knowing the source of the inspiration is so important, cause sometimes you can snatch the original version for a fraction of the cost!  Isn’t this dress just darlin’? (and totally my size!)
